Hi Res streaming question
« on: 14 Feb 2012, 09:13 pm »
Just tried some Hi Res tracks this weekend for the first time.  Sounds great with the following:

Laptop with 24/96 flac tracks from Hdtracks (via mediamonkey)
USB out to Musical Fidelity V-Link (USB to spdif conversion)
V-Link to Vision DAC (in preamp combo)
Ultravalve
Songtowers (standard)

Question - Can I get rid of the V-Link by using a Squeezebox touch?  If so, will it sound as good?
Thanks for helping a newbie.

You can use the S/PDIF out of the Squeezebox Touch right into the Vision DAC.  It should work just fine.

I have a SB Touch just lying around here if you need one.

^ Take him up on his offer.  In my opinion the Touch into the DAC will sound better than how you have things set up now.  Consult with TJHUB regarding the SB Touch tweaks and mods (free ones).  It's really pretty good for the money, though it's no Salk StreamPlayer.
