If you are looking for the kit that installs in the M451 it's probably not worth your time. I have the M-901 with all the upgrades including the buffer and fortunately it had a bypass switch installed. The buffer caused a problem that no one seemed able to solve in that it caused a loud rustling sound when you used the volume control. I have very good ancillary equipment including the GR Super-Vs so when I say that I had a difficult time noticing any difference if the buffer was in or not, it wasn't because of my equipment.

If you are looking for a tube buffer and can install it in front of your amp, check out the iFi iTube. IMHO, more transparent than the Dodds, (or the other tube buffers I have tried).

As good as the Dodd is and no longer available check out the buffer from response Audio, a killer IMO. Not a response Audio dealer, just impressed.

Gary is in the process of building me a balanced upgrade tube buffer right now.  It will have Jupiter caps and his newly designed tube socket base with upgraded resisters.

Its on its way, so as I get it and burn in, I'll let you know how it sounds.

I have a Response Audio buffer I'd be willing to part with if interested.

Please do pickup an external tube pre-amp buffer if you want to try that tubey sound.

I could go either way.
