I am living happily with a Border Patrol SEi dac (Jupiter cap version) Top and bottom end are just fine and you’ll love the midrange. Not the last bit of resolution if that’s what you’re after. It’s very musical, organic/natural sounding and a lot of fun to listen to! 🎶  You might be able to get a used SEi for $1,000 - $1,100

I also have a BP and like it a lot.  Don't forget, though.  There are no tubes in the audio circuit.  The tube is part of the power supply only.

tubador > mhdt >> border patrol

in my experience

Nice.  Have you compared all three in the same system?  I would like to try an MHDT or a Tubador.

Yes, right you are. I’ve been listening to it with the tube not engaged, but need to research more EZ 80 tubes or variants. If you have suggestions, pls post or PM me
