More Mardi Gras - this time with a music bent - there were probably about 20-30 drummers along with a motley crew of other horn players playing estatically - almost everyone was all smiles for about 2 hours straight (granted most were loaded but, the music was moving the people on a primal level - including myself).

Pic was taken down on Frenchmen Street near:

Great music venue - and oh so Southern cheap

I can see how you guys like macro--it's pretty addictive. My " new" walk around zoom lens only has a Macro 1:2 ratio (picked it up used for <$200 @KEH) So, this morning I played around in yard in macro.

Hey George, How old is your boy? Maybe we could get his team and my boys' teams together for a fun match :green: My boys are pitchers as well.

He is 8 years old Bill.

Alas, our season ended on Thursday night with a rain shortened 2 inning affair.  We really wanted to get this game in as we hadn't won a game all season (we tied in two games) and were playing a team that hadn't lost all season.  Oh well...

The boys had a great time and really improved over the course of the season.

Hope your season was as fun as ours.

George

In honor of the 2010 World Cup, here are my soccer stars from this weekend.  Photos were taken using my friend's Nikon D70 with a AF Nikkor 70-210mm lens on a tripod.

A rough tumble after some contact

Nursing the "injury" on the sidelines

Later in the match...posing after scoring a goal

Deep in pre-game thought and contemplation

Battle for the ball

Relaxing on the sidelines watching big brother play his match

Inside the dome of the Pantheon in Rome - May 2010. The oculus admits the only light in this building that has been used continuously for 1900 years! Rainwater drains through holes in the marble floor. The coffers are poured concrete into molds from scaffolding above. The concrete gets progressively thinner as it reaches the oculus - this and the fact that there is no apex to the dome saves a lot of weight!

Thank you for the astounding photo, jqp.  An engineering marvel from our ancient history and even more so for having survived WW II.  I can only imagine what it would be like to behold in person!

More images like this, please!

Some recent photo restoration work which I'm pretty happy with.  The original has a lot of fog on the neg, but it kinda gives it a nice Frank Frazetta quality with the legs sort of fading into a blur.

They are "scraping the bottom of the barrel".  It's something to do with WWII era materials rationing and how those guys (company founders) had to make do with what was available.  I'm waiting on more detailed info for a caption, but that's the gist of it.

Greetings! I just recently posted a thread with a question regarding Canon G11 lenses. I thought it was the least I could do to also share some of my recent photo work. Enjoy.

Here's a picture that I took on the streets of Dhaka, Bangladesh in April of 2010:

And... here's another one of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, which is quite close to home.
