H-Frame with splayed sides?
« on: 22 Nov 2009, 03:38 pm »
Anyone postulate the advantages and/or disadvantages of splayed sides (say 10-15 degrees) for an H-frame woofer design (or U-frame, W-frame)?

MJKs H frame worksheet used to have separate inputs for 'driver end area' and 'open end area'. You could ask him if this is a valid function to simulate your problem.

It looks a little nicer, a little more stable footing. I bought a used pair of diy subs that used GR Research Rythmik servo parts,  made into a W baffle with splayed sides. The seller said it was a tricky project to build due to all the compound angle cuts for the inner baffles. He only did it for cosmetics.
