I'm sure if you own and use a smartphone you are familiar with Shazam.  http://www.shazam.com/

If you own a smartphone and don't know about it or use it, you're in for a treat. 

I use it when I'm listening to XM / Sirius radio on my 1 hr commute.  If I hear a song that I don't have, I "tag" it using Shazam.  Shazam saves all your "tags".  I then make my trip to my music store with all my music requests at hand and don't forget my chicken scratch notes.

I use it everywhere....

I used it last night when while watching Where the Wild Things Are--all songs were  by Karen O And The Kids . Recently I was Shazam duelling (my iPhone vs ??)--who was faster--at a friends birthday gathering at an 80s bar night, everyone guessing the artist. Works amazing well in a loud bar.

I usually just review my phone when ordering discs online.
More misses than I'd prefer unfortunately (newer music mostly). But, it's still very cool.
