ECC86 Sub for 6922 in buffer stage?
« on: 10 May 2020, 01:47 pm »
I was trolling around the internet the other night and came across the ECC86.  I own a Cary 100t DAC that uses a pair of 6922’s in the output stage.

On paper, the ECC86 has the same pin-out, however does not read as a sub.

I would never use it in a gain stage, but since this is just a buffer, curious on thoughts about the swap?

I did a quick check on EBay and the price for the ECC86 is very attractive.

Thanks in advance - hopefully before I fry my DAC :)

The ECC86 has a maximum plate voltage of 30v, not a substitute for 6922, if you want cheap may try 6bz7.
