Boy the activity on this thread has reallly slowed down?

Anybody got any new stuff, old stuff or different stuff??

I was listening to Bill Withers and Ben Harper last night and was once again enthralled in the quality of these discs and artists...simply wonderful talent.

The Bill Wither cd was released and remastered:

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Bill-Withers-Lean-Me/dp/B00004THKR/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1323306211&sr=1-1

This great cd can be had for $3.86!!! A real no-brainer.

There is another Bill Withers disc I just ordered that is a live recording that has several reviews that simply state that this cd is the best live cd ever:

http://www.amazon.com/Live-Carnegie-Hall-Bill-Withers/dp/B0012GMV1M/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1323306211&sr=1-2

Anybody listen to this one and can comment?

I will when it arrives in a few days!

Merry Christmas!!

Alex

Van Morrison - What's Wrong With This Picture?

Joni Mitchell - Don Juan's Reckless Daughter
There are a few very strange songs on there but most are nice if you're not too much into avant-garde songs. With Jaco Pastorius on bass and John Guerin on drums how can you go wrong?

I completely forgot about Shirley Horn - You Won't Forget Me

Very mellow, mainstream jazz. She was one of the very under-rated jazz pianist of all time.

I haven't viewed every page but I doubt it's on the list. If not, get a copy of this. Great music with sonics to match.

Hello Audio Experts!
These are a couple of CDs that I think have great SQ, and the music is awful nice too:

HOT TUNA "Hot Tuna" This is a live album recorded at the New Orleans House in Berkley.  Jorma & Jack Cassidy are in sync & smokin' (no pun intended), and the harmonica playing by Will Scarlett just floats.
BJORK "Debut"  This album spans from Euro-techno to unaccompanied harp.  They seem to be having lots of fun with the sound production.

I pulled out an old Telarc CD that I hadn't heard for some time and was quite impressed.  It's the Rite of Spring, performed by the Cleveland Orchestra, Lorin Maazel conducting.

Looks like it's still available:

http://www.amazon.com/Stravinsky-Rite-Spring-Igor/dp/B0000251LY/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1328576447&sr=8-5

I also noticed it's been transfered to SACD as well:

I searched this thread and didn't find this one, so please forgive if it's a repeat, and please forgive me for adding yet another Diana Krall album to the list! :)

Diana Krall - When I Look in Your Eyes (1999, Verve Records)

Vocals and instrumentation show off the nicely detailed mid-range my pair of Salk's can produce.
And, heck, it did win two Grammys (Best Jazz Vocal, Best Engineering) and was also nominated for Album of the Year (Santana - Supernatural won the Grammy).

The classical genre seems underrepresented here, so I'll try to remedy that.  My first recommendation:  piano is very difficult to reproduce well, and this recording has two of them- along with some percussion to test the subwoofer.  Repertoire is unusual, sonics are state of the 16-bit art and the performances are wonderful......so it's Stravinsky's Rite of Spring and Bartok's Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion by Duo d'Accord and the Eardrum Percussion Duo on Genuin.
