Square waves on break in of transformers.

Hi John

I was reading through your forum and saw where you said it is not a good idea to put DC and square waves through the transformers.  Everyone agrees on the DC but some people can't see where squares waves would do any damage.

Is there something we are missing.  Always open to new ideas.

Thanks  Tom

Hello!

I would not use a square wave. The reason is that a square wave is DC (same voltage) for most of the cycle.  I use a sine wave sweep from 10hz to 100Khz. If you don't have a signal generator or break-in device like the frycleaner from haggerman then just play music through them and that'll work fine.

Thanks!

John
