Title: Stereo Stratos Extreme
Post by: keenween on 29 Sep 2008, 03:19 pm
I just wanted to post that I received my fully upgraded stereo stratos extreme (red board, caps, cable...) and have been enjoying it for three months now. It did require some break-in, and Klaus gave a spot-on description of what to expect. I've put a lot of hours on it in a short time span, I'm guessing it has roughly 1200 hours on it. This amp added a really sweet, clean and crisp sound to my system. I'm also very impressed at its output strength. I think the Mexico site rates it at 165W/channel, and it seems to be every bit of that and plays as though there is more. I don't the need to upgrade any more, well maybe...cough kismet cough.  :thumb:

I really don't concern myself anymore with all the inflated power ratings that the manufacturers seem to bombard is with daily. I do concern myself with the way the A/B biasing is setup and just how well it plays using ten watts or less. As for power it's more important in just how stable the amp is all the way thru the load spectrum. Is the amp stable in a two ohm load? How about a one ohm load? Will it play an extended low impedence load? Klaus Bunge once said that his Mono SE's were stable in a one ohm load for what seemed like forever. Now your talking enough power to arc weld with, and yet live thru it. Try that with your Krell or P.S. Audio!
