Vandersteen Xover

Has anyone ever removed the Xover of their Model 2 or 3 before for the purpose of replacing the "Electrolytic type capacitors" these speakers use because they go bad after around 15-20 years.

"Richard Vandersteen says "Send the speakers to us" and He said that it was a crossover issue and they would have to put the speakers into their chamber to figure it out to listen to the crossover to check to see if it's right. "

"Richard Vandersteen says says crossovers were never intended to be removed and that I should send the whole speaker in because I would most likely damage the crossover when trying to take it out."

"Crossover hard to remove because he put silicone over like half of the PCB."

"The XO is mounted to a piece of MDF that is glued to the main cabinet. That can't be pried off either. Not without the MDF falling to pieces."

"for the cost of shipping the whole 2c's you can rebuild the whole XO yourself, I would be suspecting particularily the Blue wrapped electrolytic capacitors."

Vandersteen just removes the old ones out and installs all new units.
