budget up to about $400, used is okay.
moving from 5.1 system to 2.0 system in a new place that I will only live in for 2-3 months a year.
I listen to music more than TV/Movies.
just enjoy some classical, jazz, world, and occasional rock/pop
decent sized room, okay with limited bass, they actually do pretty well here.
I have a couple DACs and DAPs, I also have a Wiim Pro for Tidal.
specs say:
Sensitivity
84dB spl (2.83Vrms, 1m)
Recommended amplifier power
30W - 120W into 8Ω on unclipped programme
Does something like Denon PMA-600NE make sense? does a budget class D Chinese amp sound as good now?
so many in this price range and would be impossible to really audition any with my speakers.
Thanks for ideas

Yamaha as-701 or 801. Amazingly good sounding, powerful amps. Will drive anything and not break a sweat. Superb reliability, as most good Yamahas. 801 has a better DAC for the USB input, otherwise the same as 701. No pre-out.
I replaced very good $4-5000 amps in both my systems with 801s, driving very good speakers (Avalon and Revel). Not quite as good sounding ( a bit less open and spacious), but clean and balanced. I hardly notice the difference except in direct A/B. Terrific with movies.
$899 list, available for close to your price used, or $599 refurbs. Buy one, and it might just take you off the amplifier merry go round for a long time.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for both of these used. was hoping a bit less, might be worth it long-term. thanks

The Denon or a Marantz should work well.
I had a PMA-1600NE and a PM8004(5?) really liked both of them.

Accessories4les has the Denon PMA-600NE for $350 at the moment.
If you want super compact and super inexpensive the RSL IA255.1 amplifier might be worth looking into.

the PMA-1600NE looks nice! all look like good options, I'll see what I can find. would also be interesting to hear that $100 RSL amp.
Emotiva had a couple inexpensive 2.0 amps also.

I was running B&W CDM2's with a Yamaha AX-700U sounded great.
