BCD-3 or BOT>BDP-3>BDA-3 ?
« on: 6 Jan 2019, 02:32 pm »
I would love to know how they compare SQ wise, the same CD played through the BCD-3 verses ripped with the BOT to a BDP-3 played through a BDA-3.
If there is a clear winner , that would be the route I would take.

I used my own doctored recordings at the dealer with Bryston Active speakers. In that room with the Bdp-3 and BDA-3, the sound IMO was stellar. One recording I recall in particular 'Harmonica' from Once Upon at Time in the West, had a 3D like quality to it that just seemed to float in space, impressive to say the least.

However at home the same recording played on my BCD-3 IMO bettered the BDP BDA-3 combo. Mind you I was comparing with my audio memory, which people will tell you is not a reliable comparison.:smoke:

hey wplash, i've often wondered about your question.

I haven't had to pleasure of listening to  either the BDP3 or BDA3. But for what it's worth, i have compared the sound with  Oppo203 transport >> BDA2.  versus  the same tune ripped to my hard drive and played through the BDP1>>BDA2.  And IMO, the BDP1>BDA2 was a clear winner.

Although a more pricey route, the BDP3>BDA3 setup would offer far more flexibility in your overall system vs. a single CD player....

My 2 bits.

Cheers, T.
