Bargain (2022) - wildly bizarre mystery thriller

Spend any time on Rotten Tomatoes or other movie review sites and an ad for "Bargain" will pop up. A new 6-part Korean black comedy mixed with social commentary. "Bargain" starts out with a totally offensive storyline - a man hooks up with a teenage virgin in an out of the way hotel for obvious reasons. The meet-ups are arranged online and are expensive, ₩‎1,000,000 won. There are arguments, negotiations and a phone call is made...

What happens next is 180 degrees opposite from where I expected the story to go.

I didn't read any reviews beforehand and I suggest you don't either. Each episode is fairly short, action is at a breakneck speed, the entire 6-part series is 3 hours long. Lots of panic stricken dialog and the film is subtitled. Foreign film buffs will have no problem keeping up but slow readers will get exhausted. Camera action is hand held and inventive, I have a couple of friends that would get woozy.

And there is random violence, mostly involving knives and a hatchet. Lots of damage is done. I had to keep watching just to find out where all these twists and turns were heading.

The trailer will clue you in but skip it if you like surprises
