Maybe James can answer this.... is the cd-1 able to be improved by Bryston if there are even better drives and chips in the future?

So if this whole hi-rez thing catches on and becomes the standard for discs, would the BCD-1 be capable of being upgraded?

Something tells me it will be a very, very long time before hi-rez becomes the standard though.

Hi Stu,

No your talking completely different standards and different digital chips etc. The upgrade changes would not make economic sense. Also some feel that the future of digital playback is not through "optical'" storage media like CD's and DVD's but through "solid state" storage devices on computers and downloads off cable and the internet etc.
