Cd harmonics
« on: 2 Jun 2009, 04:33 pm »
It has been argued that cd isn't HI Rez and I certainly agree that it is not.  An original cd when compared to sacd without any enhancements lacks harmonics. However with enhancement applied and played in my BCD-1, harmonics exceed that of sacd.
I believe this is because the BCD-1 has the ability to separate instruments from a homogenous recording.

An idea occurred to me last night. Maybe I can record a cd with enhancer applied that increases cd harmonics when played on an ordinary cd player or perhaps even greater harmonics through the BCD-1. Don't know if it will work but will give it a try. I will need someone to verify the results if it does work.

What sort of "harmonic enhancement" do you have in mind?

Well my first attempt at making a test disc sample didn't work. With the Yamaha enhancer on, background noise was introduced into the recording.

Not sure why 'cept for different computer and possible sound conflict. I have an external soundcard that I haven't tried yet.
