Thanks again Jason for doing/posting the interview with Ron.

Regarding the comparison between boutique and standard crossover parts, I caulk it up to trying to correlate what we measure versus what we hear when it comes to distortion types of measurements.

Plus standard parts don't go through the quality control that boutique parts might (by both the parts and unit manufacturers).

It all boils down to technocrats being over confident in themselves.  Real science doesn't force "known facts" down the throats of others, but questions everything.  Like, why does one part sound different than another (regardless of our feeble measurements)?

Boutique parts cannot save a bad (or mediocre) design.  Best to focus on excellent design as a first priority.  Once you have a great design, then top level parts are appropriate.   That's certainly a valid approach.

On the other hand, if I have a piece of gear that I love and I just want to squeeze a bit more performance out of it, then pulling out the cheap parts and putting in premium ones is also a valid approach.

Overall I thought the interview was great.  Nice to see that the subjectivist and the objectivist people actually have a lot of common ground.

I enjoyed the video and got to know Ron much better.  Ron is the one responsible for me getting to know Danny and ordering the SVS Ultra upgrades.  Since I view Ron's YouTube channel often, it's great to have a better understanding of the person behind the microphone.

Personally, I would never buy a piece of gear that he recommends as I don't believe that he is a good reviewer at all, and barely knows what he's talking about. But I will give Ron credit where it is due, he has in fact brought, new younger audiophiles into our sport/hobby, which is excellent and should be congratulated!!

Jason,

How about an interview with Vance?? He knows a few things about speaker building? or perhaps Andrew, a gifted designer?

Food for thought,

Keep up the good work,

Don

How about a podcast with Danny Ritchie and Paul McGowen?

I have offered some of the above to come on and haven't heard anything back so they must not have any interest.  I have about 5 waiting to be released and am still recording more this week and next.  Two speaker designers and one automotive to be exact.
