Whose DAC does gala use?

It uses dual Burr Brown (TI) PCM1794As in monaural mode.

The superiority of the GALA's internal PCM1794A DACs is a valid consideration and is better than the DAC used in the Node. Whether that relative sonic gain for the GALA outperforms the benefit of MQA rendering that the Node's DAC has would be interesting to determine. Regardless of all of this MQA discussion, it still appears to me that the GALA DAC has great potential to provide an exceptional value product in the marketplace.

I agree, but I’m seduced by the mqa propaganda.

Yes, I read that months ago, and he is entitled to his opinions, and we, ours. How much weight should we give it?

Almost the full range....?

This seems to imply the negative.

Nice video. The music is like a Jack Ryan movie!

Yes, I'd like to hear it on a tour.

Leo,

Nice!

Are you coming out with improved versions or do you have some excess inventory?

Thanks,
Anand.

For those who may be interested here is a great write up by a very happy customer.
It goes though the process of building a system from scratch with the official 7" touch screen.

Meet the PecanPi DAC and Streamer

Improvements over previous generation DAC include:
  • Fully linear ultra low noise power supplies
  • Re-clocking with Crystek femtosecond jitter oscillator
  • Built in HW volume control (no Volume-Clocker needed)
  • Built in high performance headphone amplifier
  • Full size XLR connectors
  • Ability to back-power the Raspberry Pi
  • Improved thermal design
  • Aluminum case available

The PecanPi Streamer is a ready to go plug and play streamer, that uses the PecanPi DAC, and will be available with the following software options:

Discounted preorder will be available shortly through Orchard Audio's website
