Warner Brothers 1970-1976 James Taylor in MQA

I love checking Tidal MQA drops and today I see this new album and if ever there was evidence that "Master Quality Authenticated" is the real deal this is it. I felt I was listening to the REAL master tape of JT for the first time in my life. Just astonishing to be able to hear INTO the mix. I listened through JBL's in direct two channel in the nearfield to get as close to what the engineer likely heard in the studio. Thank goodness for Warner Brothers taking their crown jewels out of the vault and basically giving them away if you are a Tidal subscriber. Here is a video of the producers and engineers take on the remix.

I just, literally an hour and a half ago, downloaded James Taylor Sweet Baby James from HDTracks to compare it to Tidal’s MQA version.  I was really impressed with the MQA on Tidal but have to give the edge to the 192khz/24bit HDTracks version.  There is just a bit more you are in the recording studio with James.  Don’t get me wrong though, the MQA is really good.
