Hi Folks,

Just a question - are there DAC's out there that allow for an HDMI input?

One that I know of is the NAD M51.

Also the DAC section of the Oppo BDP-105 Blu-ray player.

The Levinson announced a year ago (have not followed it - model 560?) was supposed to have HDMI

Apparently their (Levinson's) estimatation time to market was too optimistic - http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/mark-levinson-no-560-dac-14407/

Linn's DSM products are combined streamers/DACs/Preamps (and the Majik DSM includes an integrated amplifier), and have HDMI inputs.  The DSMs will convert  PCM audio received on an HDMI input to analog, and will pass video through untouched to an HDMI output.

Hi James,

Great to see you investigate the HDMI options. Probably superfluous and known to you, check this: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/hdmi-input-dacs-12472/

The PS Audio has I2S hdmi http://www.psaudio.com/shop/perfectwave-dac/ but apparently won;t support audio over HDMI 2.0 or DSD, just like the W4s Dac2 won't: http://www.wyred4sound.com/webapps/p/74030/117839/457975. Which is why we want it of course.... haven't heard the new NAD sac, but it seems that doesnt support dsd over hdmi either.

This one does? http://www.cypeurope.com/Audience/AU-D250-Advanced-DAC-with-HDMI-Bypass-and-Audio-Breakout.html

Cheers, and please let us know what your thinking James!
