Super Bowl LVI
« on: 9 Feb 2022, 06:39 pm »
Point spread: Rams -4.5 (Rams favored to win by more than 4.5 points, otherwise Bengals cover)
Moneyline: Rams -200 favorites to win (bet $10 to win $15 total); Bengals +160 underdogs to win (bet $10 to win $27 total)
Total scoring over/under: 48.5 points scored by both teams combined

The Half Time Show- I know who Snoop Dogg is from his many TV ads, but does anyone listen to the rest of these people?

Nope, don't listen to any of them.

I don't really have a favorite for this one, I just hope it's a close, high scoring game and the good news is Tony Romo isn't covering the game.

I don't have a dog in the hunt either other than not wanting to hear World Champion Cincinnati Bengals twice next year.  I'm not impressed with the Bengal O-line and think the Rams D-line will dictate the game early.  But I can't forget Burrows was sacked nine times and won.

What happens to former players in the announcing booth?  Romo was fabulous when he first started, terrific at analysis, now he just blathers on and is wrong as much as he's right.  I think they get coached up too much.  Network personnel try to make him sound like any other announcer.  But I still enjoy Tony and don't understand all the dislike, he knows more about pro football than all of us combined.

He just talks way too much, it's like he's on diet pills washed down with 15 cups of really strong coffee.
After a little bit you want to turn his mic off.

agreed and in the Bills/Chiefs game he mentioned numerous times how great Leslie Frazier was as a defensive coordinator, yeah that really showed in those last 13 seconds !

personally I'll take Aikman over him any day of the week !

i miss madden and summerall... still the standard imo - by a vast margin

for today's crews... romo to me is entertaining, i agree too chatty sometimes, but often insightful

collingsworth, aikman, et al are ok, i feel they state the obvious mostly

peyton and eli are fun to watch but what they do does detract from the game...  but i suppose it is what their thing is meant to do...

I will enjoy the half time performances, I do listen to a fair amount of old school hip hop.

Don't have a team in this game, and as always the 2 week layoff breeds disinterest for me.

But I will watch it!

Reminds me of some movie where the actress plays a porn star and when describing her acting technique she said she just repeated whatever was going on.  Like, Oh, oh, your doing me so good, or oh oh I'm on top of you.  Basically that's what they do, oh oh he ran for a first down, or oh oh he's close they'll have to measure, of oh oh he caught one over the middle for a big gain.  Thus when Romo says, before a play, these two guys are blitzing I think it adds a lot more than the play by play guy.

Not much of a Collingsworth fan! Player “X” does something well and “he’s the best player at the position blah blah blah…. very annoying! I like Al Michaels old school way to call a game. Romo does suffer from verbal diarrhea and should never ever call another Cowboys game! Nantz should just stick to golf. Buck and Aikmen are ok Troy tries very hard to be neutral when calling a Cowboys game and offers negative criticism when appropriate.

Oh this is about the Super Bowl? My heart likes the Bengals but my head says Rams by 10!

Haven't watched an NFL game this season, just too much blabbing, instant replay, officiating, and spoiled jocks (like the WWF, does anyone here believe the playoff games weren't rigged?).  Games are too slow and take way too long.  And sadly all this is drifting into the college and Canadian games.

it's Stafford's chance to stick it to the Lions.

I would like to see the Rams win and see Odell Beckham Jr. catch a touch down or three.
I had such high hopes for him with the Giants but I think the whole team was just sliding down into last place no matter who was on it.

I’m looking forward to the game and am pulling for Cincinnati. My problem is trying to choose between Chinese or Indian food for the game.

Now I’m thinking Mexican or maybe a pizza. Or a sub with potato wedges.

Good game so far, shame to see Beckham go down, looks like his cleats caught for a moment.
