Title: Truckin’: Road trip soundtracks 2019
Post by: LesterSleepsIn on 13 Jul 2019, 09:10 pm
What are people listening to this summer for road trip soundtracks? Once upon a time in the now long distant past there was a time when my long road trips across country would be fueled, in part, by cassettes of Grateful Dead live jams with some Allman Brothers and J.J. Cale mixed in.

But you can’t go home again and times change. For the past two years my music of choice for road trips has been the Algerian group Tamikrest and the Nigerian musician known as Bombino.
The music rocks and rolls and drifts and jams all to an African beat. Think Grateful Dead meets King Sunny Ade.

Tamikrest is a group of musicians who belong to the Tuareg people. The band was founded in 2006 in Tamanrasset, Algeria. They mix traditional African music with Western rock and pop influences and sing in Tamashek.”

“Omara "Bombino" Moctar is a Nigerien singer-songwriter and guitarist. His music is sung in Tamasheq and often address geopolitical concerns in Turag. He is also a lead member of Group Bombino. “

Check out both below.
