VPI Industries just announced a new Turntable line, The Forever Series. The Model One is the first in the series. It is a modular design with a USA retail price of $5,250.00.

Outside of a VPI Facebook group I'm not hearing much chatter. I could just be because it won't start shipping until December, which probably means next year.. I’m a big fan of VPI having owned and still enjoying a VPI Prime turntable I purchased used just over 4 years ago.

I may consider upgrading if I can get a reasonable price for my VPI Prime. I do like the looks of my Prime over the traditional square build of the Model One but a dust cover would be a big help in my dusty corner.

Helpful, Thanks. Are you going to get two and why do you want two?

True, but the price is close to Technics 1200G series table. I like the design, it looks like the HW-19 series of the past. That TT design was long lasting and allowed many upgrades. I had mine for many years until I got a great deal on a Prime Signature. I sold the HW-19 to a buddy and it is still going strong. I would like to hear a Technics 1200G, but I enjoy the simplicity of the VPI belt drive system. No capacitors or complicated electronics to worry about down the road.

I have to agree with you, belt driver motors are easy to repair or you can even put a new motor or even have a spare motor on the shelf just in case.

handsome looking TT, I look forward to a demo down the road. My tried and true Aries III continues to perform flawlessly so until something goes wrong with it I'll probably stay put ....

VPI offers so many turntables, its confusing.  Maybe they'll retire some models coinciding with this release.

At this price point, VPI already has:

Prime X $5500
Prime 21 $6500
Classic signature $6000

(Thanks chatgpt)

(I'm a proud owner of a hw19 mk4)

I'm interested in finding out where the Forever One fits in the portfolio. Would it be an upgrade to my older VPI Prime or would the models you mentioned be a better route? I'm not sure I want to do constant upgrades though that is a selling point of the new modular design of the turntable.

While the uni-pivot can sound great when optimally set up, I wouldn't mind something easier. After needing to remove and put back during a remodel, I went through the set-up process again and think I got it right but hard to be sure with my tools and skill. I wouldn't mind trying a gimble. VPI lists a Fat Boy option instead of the new S tonearm and a Model One with Wand Tonearm was shown at the recent Capital Audiofest.

The owner of VPI is active on Facebook. I suggest just asking him.

If this was intended for me, I did exchange a number of emails with Mat and ultimately decided on selling my Prime and buying the Signature 21. I could have bought the Forever One and considered upgrades over the years but preferred to just be done with a Signature 21. Famous last words. Show me your pride and joy -- your turntables!
