Title: Question on Modwright Transporter
Post by: HT cOz on 28 Jan 2019, 03:36 am
Hello

I have a few quick questions on the Transporter:
1).  Can you run balanced without the tube section being powered on?
2). I need to wire an XLR to RCA cable will this work?

I’m loving the unit and use it every day, the reasons for the questions is that sometimes I’m just watching TV and might like to save my tube life for more critical listening.

Thanks
Robert

Interesting to get no answer....

I made the cable and it worked well.  The balanced outputs cant run without the tube amp stage being powered on.  I didn't think the balanced sounded as good as the SE but they might warrant further investigation for a bass section of bi-amped speaker or subwoofers.

Thanks,
Robert

The digital outputs also work without the tube section on. In fact I think basically everything works except the RCA analog outs.
