I've had a few PS Audio units and ultimately disliked what the regenerators did for the music. I've got an APC S-15 presently as well which I don't really like either.
My experiences completely agree with your statements above regarding the other products.
If you like the Shunyata Hydra products, then you should also look into the Running Springs Audio products. IMO, the RSA products are equal or above in performance. Both are non-limiting meaning you can run front end components or power amps without hurting/changing the sound.
But like anything in this hobby, you need to try them out in your room and your rig to get to the final answer.
