Reassuring Airborn because I thought most GBV bordered on 2 track cassette sound. Have to admit, I haven't listened to it much but I recently came into a giant compilation set of CD's.

VAN MORRISON - VEEDON FLEECE

My personal favorite Van Morrison album. Four copies so far -- all of them with unacceptably high surface noise.  Still looking for a keeper.  :(

I have 10 Wheel Drive with Genya Ravan, Brief Replies, with the tune Morning Much Better. What a great song it is! It had tons of play on WNEW-FM in NYC when I grew up. Tell us what your Genya score is like once you've listened to it. Would imagine it's not BS&T all over again...

Pumpkinman,

When you get a chance, I would like to hear your feedback on The Crane Wife vinyl pressing quality.  I love the album and only heard the cd until a few months ago.  I bought the LP new/sealed and upon opening it, found a dirty, poorly pressed and handled slab o' vinyl.  It literally looked like a used LP.  I cleaned it on a vpi but it was still not acceptable.  I read a few SH forum posts for 2 years ago stating the vinyl production was a disaster.  I'm wondering if there are any good pressings out now?  (possibly a reissues?)

Thx
Kenreau

Kenreau,

FWIW, my pressing of The Crane Wife is pretty good. While not flawless, it is more than acceptable and I'm picky about vinyl quality.

Went thru my lp's I have Brief replies and Construction, Genya with Baby, Urban Desire, They Love Me They Love Me Not and I Mean It

Pumpkinman is the MAN! "Morning Much Better" is a cool song because it has a risque message delivered with subtlety (although the vocal is raw electricity) that is lost in today's world of overt sexuality. I'll keep my eye out for solo stuff at upcoming record shows. Like in the spring when the big thaw occurs...

Two nice hauls Bill :thumb: :thumb: which ones were new vinyl besides The Crane Wife? You clearly have the disease vinylitis. I'm glad no one else in this thread has it.

Paul,
I think it is time to start that thread about buying more vinyl than you can listen to in a lifetime. :)

Happy listening,

Laura

Mark Knopfler "Get Lucky"

Good sounding cd, but the vinyl version is out of this world.  Took it over to a friends house who has a super system; Wilson speakers, krell amp, AR preamp & phono pre, Linn turntable; and he couldn't believe how good it sounded.

I have this and agree with your assessment. The vinyl is wonderful.

The new release of Yes 90125 is awesome. Sounds better then the original pressing.

Thanks Wayner,

I will pick it up. I think 4000 Holes has a copy. The used copy I picked up had a bunch of liquid substance spilled on it and Bob gave it to me. after a cleaning session with the disc doctor's miracle record cleaner and a double rinse with dionized RO water on my VPI 17, the record looked like and sounded like new. With Tony Kaye on keyboards it sounds more like The Yes Album. While I like Fragile and Closer to the Edge, I prefer the band's releases with Tony Kaye on keyboards instead of Rick Wakeman--both are good, just a personal preference.

Best,

Laura

bought about a dozen LP's at one of favorite haunts this week, but the prize was a Duke Ellington box set in absolute mint condition (dosn't look as if it's seen a needle on it) for the grand total of $5.
