Second week in Pittsburgh and finally made it into Jerry's. With all the 1000s of records he has, still no Workbook or Copper Blue. But grabbed a handful of replacements for some VG and VG- Sinatra I had, and a Jimmy Smith lp. I wanted a copy of 'The Cat' by Smith, looked at 4 different ones, but all VG- at best. And Jerry has the best prices I've seen, everything I bought between $3- $5 dollars, this group was an even $20. Still no sign of my Holy Grail, a 6 eye 'Kind of Blue'.

Bill - you have to get out here, maybe we make a trip like last year to Raleigh, you drive and buy gas and I get hotel room for us, the Hyatt at Pittsburgh airport is nice. I'm guessing a 5 - 6 hour drive from my place.

And a couple of very hard to find Swans LPs.  These are their first two full length albums.  Half noise rock and half no wave.  I call it theme music for the apocalypse.

Have and treasure one of etcarroll's finds, Rough Mix with Pete Townsend and Ronnie Lane and guest appearances by notables of the day.  I'll go on the record.  This is a bloody masterpiece.  A lotta time and thoughtfulness went into the making of this album sounds like to me and it fills my room and body with it's sound and humanity.  This just isn't a commercial R&R release.  It's original songs are more folksy, even, with timeless emotion.  "Till The Rivers All Run Dry" isn't an original but its inclusion had to have come from somebody's heart.  That's not to say that kick ass, slam your head on the pavement energy was omitted.  Get a load of "Heart To Hang On To".  It's the depth and common feeling of this album that's makes it a classic.  Recorded by Glyn Johns and stands out to me as his best.  Ten stars!

Yesterday, I had the good fortune of walking into a little beach shop on Navarre Beach that sold flip-flops, rafts and T-shirts as well as they rented motor scooters. There on the floor, underneath a shelf of plastic, beach kitch, was three boxes of records. I mumbled at the kids behind the counter, "Hey... have you guys got records for sale?" They replied, "Yea... they belong to the guy who rents the scooters. He wants $2.00 a piece for them." So, I walked away with these. It was a very nice and very unexpected little haul. All records were NM to VG+. Don'tcha just luv when that happens?

I read that it is better than the original which I always thought was excellent.   :thumb:

Wow, some good ones on this page.  I like buying classical based on the album cover   I know nothing about the music but I'll buy it for a buck if the cover is cool.  jimtranr, I'd buy all those even tho I might be afraid of spiders.
LOVE the Aldo Nova !!!
Picked up Trower because of this thread, playing now.
