I think Phil mentioned the new Oppo's a ways back, thats a good idea. You could probably find some place to audition it etc...they are state of the art, play anything and play it with serious electronics behind it. The family will or will not use this?? Think about your family working with these also if YES is the answer to my question. You'll be getting calls at work-"Dad how do I make it work?"...or "Hon whats the fast blinking bright RED light mean?".....LOL...just a goofy thought...sorry but a consideration.

I would recommend a nice used McIntosh cd player or cd/dvd player. I just purchased a used McIntosh cd/dvd player for $900.00 from a local college professor who was upgrading to God knows what. There are a few sites online that sell some very nice used products.

I don't know if this is a good deal or not, but it's right up your alley.

The Oppo BDP-95 IMO is really hard to ignore (SABRE32 Reference Audio DAC, Toroidal Power Supply, dedicated stereo output circuits, XLR inputs, Pandora input ready, will read any format, backlit remote, all kinds of connectivity, plus all the latest video stuff including 3D).

Yes, it's bulky and it has a fan (that can't be heard).

2 channel man,

I looked at your system a little bit, and I think that you will be very happy with the sound quality of the NAD cd player that I recommended earlier. It's only $299 (no tax and fast free shipping), and it has a very, very low profile.  It does not need much ventilation, if any. It really sounds much better than what you think a 300 dollar player could sound like, and the build quality is just fine. Plus, you are buying a product from a company that has been around for a long time, and not just learning how to make a cd player. 2 year warrantee.

You could be enjoying your CD collection right now instead of agonizing over the perfect solution. (You can always upgrade later.)

I am using the Marantz 8004 SACD player and it is pretty good. The price would be around 1000 for new one.

Rega just introduced a 1/2 width CDP for $1100 USD that Tone Audio likes very much (preliminary review).

For $1300 the Upgrade Company will sell you a modded/fully warranted Oppo 93 that is guaranteed to be the best mod available.  For $900 USD you can get the Oppo 93 with the NuForce (tube like sounding) mod.  (The 93 is thinner than the 95 and has no fan.)

Hello, my name is Tim and I'm new to the forum.

Have you considered Bel Canto’s e.One CD3t they retail about $1400 you should be able to find one used in your price range.

I was fortunate to pick up a slightly used Bel Canto CD2 recently for $1200. This thing is amazing.
