We had our first rain here in months last night and a little while ago the wind kicked up, it rained for 5 minutes and this was the end result. Love the desert rain!!

What to play next?

Glen Campbell  ‎– Wichita Lineman

It's snowing after hitting 80 a week back or so in the Mid-Atlantic, so this makes sense.

Lou Reed:  Rock 'n Roll Animal             RCA,  '74

Just out of curiosity decided to cycle the table between 33.3 & 45 this morning, speed check of sorts. Hasn't seen 45 rpms in who knows when. Went back to 33.3, and platter wouldn't turn. Remove platter, and go figure, belt jumped the capstan. In fairness to the belt it is 30+ yrs old. So figured it was time to replace it with one of the two I'd ordered 5+ years ago when I set things up again. So now back to some rockin'.  :thumb:   Back to house cleaning, then record cleaning, then The Masters. Have a great weekend y'all. Try to stay warm Bill, Gene, Jerome, and any others in that neck of the woods.

Thanks AD, I have this foolishness going on right now, Bill will get a little more. Not sure what Jerome can expect in CT.

Oh, and my afternoon will be spent pulling the capstan from my VPI SSM motor as it doesn't want to spin. I cleaned it and applied fresh white lithium grease to it back a few weeks, but it keeps hanging up, so doing it again this afternoon.  :duh:

First spin inspired by the esteemed Mr. Robert of Cacti. Moving on........

Morning Gene.  Yeah talked to my brother this morning, while no snow in Indy, it was 27. Supposed to be another nice one here on the left end of the continent.

Hopefully the old Thorens just keeps chugging, at least until I can get it together to acquire a 2nd table. As long as it ain't broke I'm not touching it, at least till then. I know there are some pretty simple improvements that can be made at minimal cost. I've had a tub of the clay sitting here, unopened, that I got roughly the same time as the replacement belts. Eventually......

Best of luck with your capstan, hopefully this time the fix 'sticks' .  :D

I'm using my 30+ year old Denon 52F for now.

"Sticks" - you're killing me!

Nice here too Laura.  :D  Of course showers move back in Mon. or Tues. Still supposed to be decent temp-wise.  Beats what some of our friends are experiencing by miles.    :thumb:
