You'll have to join CB & I when we make our jaunt to Hornschmeyer's Island for 'bird' watching.

A friend sent me some albums, among which was this outstanding John Mayall Album.  I have long liked Mayall more for his influence than for his playing, I always thought his voice was too thin and reedy for the complex blues that he sang, but his harp playing has always been outstanding, so first of all, thanks to the friend and secondly, boy was I wrong.  This album which is a an non drum blues trio (bass, guitars and harp) is exceptional, including his singing.

Since there has been a number of Mayall sightings on P-Man's Rock and Roll Vinyl page (Thanks P-Man), i wanted to jump in and say that those of us who love the English Blues Bands, the obvious ones--Stones, Cream, Zeppelin, Yardbirds and the less obvious ones, Fleetwood Mac, Savoy Brown,Keef Hartley, Wishbone Ash, Long John Baldrey owe a tremendous debt to John Mayall, Cyril Davis and Graham Bond, all of whom had extraordinarily influential bands that many of the musicians in the bands listed above passed through.  I don't have any Cyril Davis or Graham Bond albums in my collection but if I did I would add them here as well.

Interesting, ya made me check discogs as I had the same thought, but wasn't sure. Appears to be the case, though seems there are two compilations.  Yes, Dinosaur Swamp is by far my favorite. Actually I'm pretty sure I have the last one, reformed group, not finding the vinyl for that or DS at the moment, though I think I have them. I did find this CBS '72 Netherlands dbl LP release,

not sure where or when I picked it up, but covers all of the 1st two. Interesting that the liner notes are both in German & English. The reformed group had an '04 release, and apparently a '14 release, neither of which I'm familiar with. Probably have to do some sampling on those out of curiosity.

Do you have any of Jerry's 'new age' solo stuff ? Both On The Wings of Aviation, and Ariel are excellent instrumental albums. Got them on CD.

Will dig thru the library when I make it to the other end of the house, see what find. Have a great weekend P-man, 3rd straight day of rain here. The weather that made Seattle famous.  8)

Thanks for the "welcome back" AD. The VSA speakers are actually the VR-35 model. Yes... I'm having a gas with 'em! Lots of fun and great sound.

Remember this?
