Mark Knopfler: Tracker. Just released on vinyl. Rumored to be all analogue.

Mellow. Recorded very well. When listening to the first track, I was able to identify the make and model of the ride cymbal with a fair degree of certainty. It's a Zildjian K 20" ride, and I'd bet money on it. Sounds a lot like "Take Five" for the first twelve bars or so.

Wow, I had no idea.. When you said that you recognized the tone of a particular cymbal, I was flabbergasted. Who exactly did you play with?  I have played the drums on and off since I was 10, that was 50 years ago but never with anyone of interest.. Not much good anymore and I only play electronic drums as not to disturb anyone and get thrown out of my apartment..

West African and Afro-Cuban hand drummer here, but well in the closet--I've just played at a few recitals and dance classes.  I, too, am amazed that you can identify a symbol, although I can usually tell the difference between drum shell and skin types.

It's really not that amazing if you've played Ks. They're much darker sounding than the A and reg. models. This thread is not about me so let's get back to our regularly programed material. We do have a musicians circle.
