Big Hole in my vinyl collection, no Led Zep.

Was looking at the Classic Records releases for I-IV, plus HoH, and they are not cheap.

So what are the versions to look for that will not bankrupt me?

Well, the Classic Records reissues are prime cuts, but expensive. My Classic Records IV was sealed when I bought it. I also have a Japanese pressing of IV and it is pretty good, but not as good as the Classic Records reissue. I also have a "Pecko Duck" in the dead wax on an early issue and it is really good. If you can find a clean Pecko Duck, get it. On LZ II, look for RL in the run out groove. Not easy to find, but worth it if you do and not excessively expensive. The recent reissue of II is pretty good and IMO better than any non RL version. Get it for less than $25. I have the Classic Records reissue of LZ I. Haven't heard the new reissue but Fremer says it is pretty good although it was cut from hi res digital files made from the original tapes. I've never owned III. Not sure what the best pressing on HoH is.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks Laura, I knew of RL in dead wax but had never heard of Pecko Duck. Just went over to the Hoffman web site and looked it up.

This was a free LP. You know I can't pass those up and while is not the best album I've ever listened to.
It's well worth furture spinnings.

That's certainly the real 'Nice Price'. Not familiar with that particular release, but am/have been a JCY fan for a long time. My favorites are Light Shine, Songbird, & On the Road. Dig thru the Black Hole, and check those out if you have them.  8)
