Saw Phil Woods in a Boulder night club in the 70s, not expecting much, and it was one of the most memorable concerts I've experienced.

JazzyGuy, what is that set up you have? And you haven't forgotten that you're suposed to adopt me?

Right now I'm listening to Charles McPherson's The Journey with keith Oxman and Chip Stevens. Very nice.

BEN WEBSTER, "SOULSVILLE" There is a passage that one can actually hear Ben starting to blow his sax as he approaches the microphone from stage back right...spine tingling for sure!!! Incredible dynamics for such an old recording.

"Cat Meets Chick" on Columbia. Jimmy Rushing and Ada Moore vocals, Jimmy Rushing band.
Several of these performers were with Count Basie at one point. This unusual swing style theme lp.
Jimmy is old style swing vocals; Ada shows less polish but more sultry style. Jimmy reminds me of "Dooley" Wilson better known as Sam from the movie Casablanca.

Six tracks from a 1963 session and two tracks left over from their monster 1960 sessions which produced the great Back at the Chicken Shack and Midnight Special. If you like these two, do yourself a favor and pick up Prayer Meetin' as well.

That's such a great album. The Duets lp with Rollins & Stitt is also a favorite. Their take on Con Alma on that one always leaves me in awe.
