OK, I'm finally off the fence and booked my flights, arriving Friday morning, staying at the Marriott.  See ya there!

I'm off the fence as well and will be attending RMAF 2010 as my first audio show.  Be gentle with me...

Nah, you have to go through the hazing process like all RMAF rookies.  First task, meet us veterans at the hotel bar.

Shouldn't be a problem there, provided my hazing doesn't include picking up the bill.

Sounds like a pretty gentle hazing to me.

The Lift Restaurant & Lounge....the place to be after 5PM Friday...in the Marriott.
Enjoy everything from tantalizing appetizers and sandwiches to imaginative entrees and delectable desserts.
And... very nice selection of spirits and brews....try the Saint Bridget's Porter...

Here's a few more...

Time will fly at the show....list what rooms you want to see....then go to them first.

Make some new friends there....find out what's sounding good.

It's hard to see everything...I know....been there 5 times, never saw everything... :duh:

But it's great fun....have a good time Mike !!

Last year was my first and at the end of the first day my brain was mush.  I didn't know what sounded good or bad anymore.  I think if I could go back, I'd completely ignore real critical listening on day 1 and just breeze through enough rooms to make myself a top 10-12 list for the next day, then spend time with those on day 2.

The biggest thing is to prepare yourself to prioritize your time in some way.  It's just not possible to spend 20 minutes listening in every room.  If you're going to be there Friday and Saturday, that's 15 hours of show.  There were 177 rooms registered last time I counted, (including 1st floor ballrooms and such) so that means you have roughly 5 minutes per room if you see everything - and that's with no lunch or bathroom breaks...

That's a good plan IMO.

I wish I had time to do that.  I've been working in a room every RMAF I've been to.  One year, just one year, I would love to be able to just go around and enjoy the show.  I usually get about 1 hour total over the 3 days.  :duh:

The bar is definitely the place to hang out after hours.  Lots of great people there.

Looking forward to meeting some of you guys coming for the first time.

Anybody got a single room you a willing to double up with me for Friday and Saturday?   I cleared my schedule and wife says OK but Marriott wants $219 a night.   I don't plan to spend much time in the room and you get to cut your room rate in half (they will change your reservation from single to double).

Looking for a bed somewhere...

I have two double beds at the Hilton across the road.  That's only about $80 per night there through Priceline.

The conundrum we are up against is that Friday is slower so you can get around easier but the rooms are not dialed in so you may be swayed by what you hear and not give them a fair shake.  Then there is SUnday when it slows again and every room is dialed in but you're already on your flight out!  I'm going to mark down my top rooms while on the flight using the downloadable vendor list and then target them for some key items to see/hear or to say hello.  And then if time permits I'll stick my head in all that I can.

Woodsyi,
Go to expedia.  Tons of rooms at easily walkable hotels (Hyatt Place, Hampton less than a block ) for $80 or less/night.

I have an extra bed for Friday night at the Hilton Garden Inn across the street from the Tech Center but you are on your own for Saturday night.

Expedia had a $50 off first purchase offer when you sign up for their credit card - check them out.
