Super confused on why wi-fi is bad?
WiFi adds a layer of complexity that is not really necessary(convenience). I want to get my music system off my home network.
My home network has developed yet another intermittent hick up. Picture this: in my 'chair', lights dimmed, Glass of Rum Jumbie at hand with my finest playlist playing. This Zone of Musical Flow was rudely interrupted 20 minutes in. So I pick up my lap top and see that jRiver is not seeing the microRendu anymore. WiFi router/good, Cable Modem/good, NAS/good, so I get up out of my chair and power cycle the microRendu and hope that the network and jRiver will rediscover it.
Over the past 3 years I've replaced an intermittent cable modem, discovered a neighbors wifi was moved to my channel and replaced an intermittent Apple Airport.
Much simpler to connect my iPad via the supplied USB cable into the StreamPlayer (if possible) but I realize that this is not something most people would want to do.
