Title: Outside hose reel?
Post by: jtwrace on 11 Apr 2021, 11:15 pm
Does anyone have an automatic retract hose reel (outside rated) they like so much you recommend it?  Can it hold a 5/8" hose?  If so, please share!  < $400 preferred.

If I'm cranking, I'm getting an Eley (https://www.eleyhosereels.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwvMqDBhB8EiwA2iSmPF4L5G1X2FX1gIdg_i-RW2ZPRpiW42UpfR49Cn_F0hXnBTi8dC4zLBoCpucQAvD_BwE).   ;)

I like my hoses out of sight when not used. I've been using this one for years now and couldn't be happier

I had a Suncast auto reel for around 8 years.  It worked well for about 5 (I always bring them into the garage for winter) but then it would "slip" and I would end up having to "feed" the hose into it while it ran.  I did like that it watered my trees near the hose reel when autoreeling.

Once it died, I bought a boring old manual reel cart.  8 years running perfectly so far.  I don't mind the look, and it's great to not have to play around with it.  The manual reeling works well for the 125ft of hose I have.
