Title: best amp
Post by: Jos on 1 Jan 2015, 03:29 pm
Hi, haven't been looking at Virtue stuff for a while, but got interested again as a friend of mine bought a Tripath amp.

However, I find their website rather confusing and have no idea which is their latest and best amp. I see the 3.1, which I thought was the top product, but at the same time I see the Sensation m451 - which I thought was an older model-selling for a much higher price.

Can anyone help me out?

Jos,

How are you?  Hope you're staying out of trouble!

There's only one amp for sale, the ONE.3.  There are only a handful left and then again, our cupboards will probably be bare for a while.

I made a huge investment in iMake but as before a miss is as good as a mile and we have another little baby coming in February which will take more of my time in 2015.

I've been listening to Sensation, TWO, and ONE.3 at various friends and family homes last month.  They're all f'cking incredible.  So catch a ONE.3 while you can.

I'm going to chime in to say that the ONE.3 is one remarkable amp.  I have it set up with a pair of nice monitors in the mid-field, and I can honestly say that nothing is missing, top to bottom -- the top is clean and clear and the bass runs strong and deep, not overblown and one-note-like as I've heard from some other amps.

I actually watch a lot of movies with this setup, and dialog is perfectly clear, soundstage is solid, dynamics are impactful, and when a musical passage begins I am blown away not only by the tone, but also by the black space in which the amp allows the music to bloom.

If you pick one up, you are getting a whole lot of amp for the money, and will have plenty to enjoy.  I will also add, as I have mentioned in a previous post, that Seth provides outstanding support should you ever require it.

I hope you consider trying a ONE.3!
