Sheesh, each time I think I'm getting close to deciding what to try, Jim announces a new one!   Any info coming up on the new Veracity you've got in the works, Jim? :)

Still working on it.  But we're getting closer.

Dennis Murphy is currently on vacation, but will resume work on the crossover as soon as he returns.

I would suspect I will have something to announce by mid-January.

Nope.  And I'm still working on them. I don't want to put anything less than my best effort into those cabinets.

So is Jim.  I've been driving him a little wacko with this one  MTM's are tricky, and I've also had to decide exactly which model of which ribbon tweeter to use.  But, thanks to a bad case of the flu, I pretty much did nothing other than sleep and work on this project for the past couple of days.  Now Jim will have to build a prototype cabinet at his end and see whether he likes what I've done.  So far it sounds good to me.

Rob, You think you're anxious.
Truthfully, I haven't been.
I've tried to put these out of my mind and just wait for updates.

In the last two or three months of the year I worked 60- 75 hours a week, and I didn't have much time to even listen to music, much less do any upgrades.  So now that my crazy season is over, I'm looking to get back to my main hobby- spamming AC!   Seriously, I'll probably buy five new speakers sometime between now and, say, July.  I'd been thinking it might be floorstanding HT-1s, but every time I get close to deciding I hear about something new!

What Amp?
Question for Jim and Dennis:
I'm going to be driving these guys with a BAT VK6200 configured with 3 amp modules.
What's your take(s) on this pairing?
FWIW, the 6200 is a true monoblock design.
Someone told me that the modules are sourced by ATI to BAT's specs.
I can tell you that the modules are built like the proverbial brick outhouse.

Plus for other prospective customers, what would be your general amplifier parameters for getting the most out of this configuration.

And forgive me, but one last question, why am I thinking about these things on a Friday night :?

Dennis may have a different take on it, but from my perspective, you will not have any trouble driving them with your amps.  It sounds like a perfect match with plenty of headroom.

Just about any amp capable of working into a 4 ohm load should work.  The impedance never falls below 4 ohms in the bass and midrange, so the MTM does not present a difficult load.  (If you want to see what a problem looks like in this area, check out the latest Stereophile's review of a mega-buck Genesis 3-way.)

Thanks guys.
Yeah I saw the graph on the Genesis, yikes.
1.4 ohms at 7.8khz and below 2 ohms in the lower midrange.
No tubes for that beast.

Rob -

Things always take longer than anticipated.  So far I have cut panels for three sealed versions of this speaker and will glue them up this coming week.

Dennis is finished with the crossover design.

So as soon as I finish the cabinets, I will be assembling the first pairs.  Since the client has requested painted cabinets, they will be done sooner than if they were veneered and finished.

So it won't be that long.  I will post pics as soon as they are completed.

Well, the first speakers I'm building will be painted black and are stand-mounted sealed versions.  So there won't be that much to look at.  The only thing unusual about them is I plan to use the black-coned version of the regular W18.  So these will be "stealth" speakers.

Jim,
I like the Stealth moniker.
I know that to most they will look unremarkable compared to your usual artistry.
I hoping there will be a "form follows function" look about them.
And I hope the sound is what will make then remarkable.

I will be sure to follow up with some ported floor-standers that will be more striking visually.
