So, about a month ago, I got something cool.

Before there was JBL, there was Altec-Lansing, and before Altec-Lansing, there was the Lansing Manufacturing Company.

I brought home one of the rarest Lansing Manufacturing Company products, a field coil 801/815 Iconic wrapped in the Model 810 Home Loudspeaker Console.

And it's got a history so interesting and star-studded that it defies all expectation.

I initially was planning to post this directly, but the writeup got so long and the story so fascinating that I ran it by my friend Michael Fremer, and he wanted to publish it on his website.

Interesting tale. There's a gentleman in Taiwan whose collection of audio gear might be of interest to you. I'll see if I can locate his website. Found it. It's in Mandarin, but a translation dialog box should pop up to get English.  http://www.audio329.com

I have not visited his shop, but he's only an hour's drive away from me.
