Encore......up against the wall?
« on: 27 Mar 2020, 10:19 pm »
Ok...newbie.....am considering encore kit....but am worried about the placement with the rear port....small room.....10x12...10 ft. ceilings....need to go very close to the wall....has anyone used these speakers with the port plugged, and the speaker an inch or 2 from the wall?...I am not a huge bass fan......my friend has some NHT Super Ones....with no port...right up against the wall...and they sound better than what I have( 20 year old front ported Sony's...from a mini stereo combo)

You can plug the port if close to the wall.

I wouldn’t worry about it.  Go for it.  They are great speakers!

I have a pair in my shop  about 2-3 "  from the wall.   Not ideal but they   work   well  ... I keep meaning to try   plugging the ports  but   neverseems to happen   LOL

Thanks for the encouragement and advice...I will be powering them with an Onyko 9150...which has only 30 watts at 8 ohms....but I really can't play them very loud in my apartment....so it should work...

I drove mine with my custom 18 watt tube amps here.  30 watts is plenty.
