In scanning the listings on Turner Classics, I noticed two movies of interest to jazz lovers to be shown on Monday, June 22 at 7:00 and 8:30(CDT). "Jazz On A Summer Day" features several performances from the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival. "Thelonius Monk: Straight, No Chaser"(1988) needs no explanation.

"Jazz On a Summer's Day" is great listening/viewing. Watch it for Anita O'Day's performance alone. Sublime.

Agree! After watching her performance I went on a bonkers shopping spree and ended up with 10 of her releases, and a DVD of her, "The Life of a Jazz Singer".
