Title: Salk recommendation
Post by: jpipes on 22 Jun 2020, 06:31 pm
Greetings-I am possibly interested in Salk speakers for our primary 2 channel listening room, otherwise known as our living room. These would be connected to a Marantz PM KI Ruby integrated with Morrow Audio speaker cable. We also have a small REL T5i sub. We enjoy a variety of music-jazz, country, Motown, American standards, and movie scores. These same speakers are used for TV too. We desire speakers that look exceptionally nice since they are very visible in our main, small, living space. We do not have space for floor stand speakers. We appreciate a bit of a warmer sound, a little more forward maybe, with a well resolved, detailed presentation. Unfortunately the speaker placement is near the wall, about a foot away. We currently listen to Monitor Audio Gold 100 4th gen speakers in piano ebony. They are beautiful, but I feel a bit reserved, and maybe even bland. I am unfamiliar with Salk, and have not heard any of them, but very much like the craftsmanship apparent on the web site. Do you Salk owners have a recommendation?  Thank you in advance for taking time to read this, and share your thoughts.

Well, if looking exceptionally nice is a priority, you are in the right place.

Warmer, but a bit forward, front or no port due to placement. Crossed with a REL Sub...

SS6m, or possibly the Exotica R monitor.

I'm basing the Exotica R monitor off my experience hearing the towers with built in subs.  That speaker was warm, and imaged like CRAZY, integrated really well with the twin 8 subs built in.  I did find it a bit laid back.. thus the suggestion to talk to jim about the RAAL tweeter version.

I'm thinking you might get a bit more forward sound off my experience with the RAAL tweeter, detailed, maybe a bit forward but not bright.  But I've never heard that combo.

But, call Jim.  No idea of your budget etc!

I can guarantee the fit and finish however will be outstanding and that Jim will steer you in the right direction speaker wise.

And whether you opt for a RAAL or Be tweeter model... the sound is beautifully musical and oh the finish!
