Sorry I don't have a recommendation other than my experience and a bit of a rant.  Maybe I'll learn what a good model is to buy now days,

Don't all the newer dishwashers (in the last decade) suck since a previous administration changed the amount of water and pressure they use so they are more environmentally friendly?

We bought a whirlpool a few years ago and it has worked fine but the pressure and amount of water is so much less than the good old days and the spinning sprayers get plugged up with food in them - and overall it works but I hae to clean it more often and they aren't what they used to be.

Haven't we been here a year ago:

Dishwasher reliability and performance?

NY Times Wirecutter has a article but you need a full access subscription to read (and none are economical)

Three Best Dishwashers 2022
https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-dishwasher/

They are:
Bosch 300 Series SHEM63W55N - $999
Maytag MDB7959SKZ - $799
Miele G5006SCUSS - $1299

I like my small, quiet, affordable, bottom freezer, counter top depth LG refrigerator but that has nothing to do with dishwashers.

There's one on the curb, 2 houses down, says FREE.
You want me to grab it for you?
Might be a washing machine but the price is right.

Bosch.

I’ve got a Bosch dishwasher in my kitchen and in three rental homes. When the fourth rental home’s dishwasher finally dies, I already know what I will buy.

We've got an LG (black chrome) that we're very happy with.

Previously had a Kitchen Aide that was a piece of ****.

Another vote for Bosch.

Bosch here too.  One of the "ultra quiet 46dB" ones - which I don't find any quieter than what it replaced, but it works well and looks good.

Or get solar panels installed.

Bosch has worked well for us. It's the quietest dishwasher we've owned. It was about 3 yrs old when we bought the house; 11 yrs later, it's not needed repairs yet. The only negative is that it requires through pre-rinsing. But the QUIET is worth it to us.

I have very hard well water & no water softener.

I believe dish washers are disposable items.  I buy cheap & install myself….

That said.

I have a cheap Frigidaire model FFDB2411NS6B $280 - bought 7 years ago.

- super quiet, don’t know it’s on.
- cleans beautifully
- never needed to work on it.

Been super pleased.
NB dishwashers have decibel rating on them…

I was going to buy the very cheapest @ $235… but saw the one I bought had super low decibel rating & stainless front.

Thanks for that! When the time comes, I would much rather buy a cheap, quiet Frigidaire than a costly, quiet Bosch.

Honestly, we’ve had really good luck with a mid point GE.  We looked at Bosch but couldn’t justify the price difference.  It’s been 4 or 5 years, maybe more, but I want to say the GE was $400 where the Bosch $600 or $700.  Given the age the model is probably irrelevant but we have a 665.13299N413.  Scratch that… The $400 dishwasher is now $850!?

You actually use more water washing by hand (statistically).  And we have a Bosch in Brooklyn and a Kitchenaid upstate.  Both work fine, Kitchenaid dries much better.  Bosch's third drawer (top drawer for silverware) is vastly superior to the Kitchenaid and gets our silverware sparkling clean.  The Kitchenaid not as much.  It's clean, but they occasionally fall over in the drawer and one side of the spoon won't get clean.  I got the Kitchenaid on clearance with a rebate for $350.  I paid $800 for the Bosch some years ago.  My wife prefers the Bosch....

Bosch!  Dead quiet and gets the dishes really clean.

Dang it!! We have a Bosch and I got the E09 error code yesterday which typically indicates replacing the heater motor. It's a simple DIY job, fortunately. Just finished watching a couple of videos and ordered the OEM part.

Which one has the better s/n ratio.

We just purchased a 100 series Bosch for $650 delivered.  They do go much higher but this one works great and is dead quiet (50db) for a dishwasher.

Beat me to it. It’s tough to make everybody happy (energy conservation vs water conservation), but my own personal experience has been if you don’t fill the Dishwasher ALL the way and use the best detergent for your circumstances (how hard/soft your water is, water pressure, type of dishes, etc), I personally use far less water using my Dishwasher (Jennair) than hand washing.

YMMV.

The standard cleaning cycle on my Bosch is 2 hours and 25 minutes. Seems like an awful lot of energy is being used AND you gotta pre-clean some of your dishes by hand anyway before you place them in the dishwasher. Alternatively, I can hand wash a sink full of dishes in 10 minutes. I think those "scientific" Internet articles about hand washing vs. dishwashers were written by the manufacturers. :o

I don't know.  If the dishwasher is using the same water over and over, filtering it in between then it's using less water at the cost of more energy and time.

That's how car washes save water.  When one washes at home, the water goes into the drain.  The car wash reuses the water over and over.

Had our Maytag for 17 years, other than one of bottom tines breaking off (from rust) no problems, runs quietly, cleans well.  We pre-rinse and only run it maybe twice a week.
