Beethoven - Late Quartets performed by the Takacs Quartet.  Their strongest outing yet, better than even their excellent middle quartets.  3 CD's.

Chopin - complete recordings of Samson Francois.  Not for the faint hearted.  This is chopin taken to extremes, by a volatile pianist.  I like it a lot, despite the rather poor sound quality.  10 CD's.

Mahler Symphony #9, #6, #4, #3 all conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas.  Great, great stuff.  Slower than other performances, but MTT wrings every drop of emotion out of these pieces.

Mozart Violin Concertos - played by Christian Tetzlaff.  My reference, beating out both Monica Huggett and Arthur Grumiaux.  Great sound, even better performances.

Thirty (30) cd's in a day?  And you'll "get into" these when?  Man, when I buy more than 3 at a time I feel like I have too many to think about and commit to.  You da man.

Just preparing for a 5 day mini vacation here over the holidy weekend.

When the Salk HT3's arrive (around the 3rd week of July) I plan on taking off for a week or so to listen, set them up and enjoy some good tunes.

More Jack Than God - Jack Bruce (Sanctuary label - import)
Yep, JB of Cream.
At 62, Jack's still got the chops.
This one contains 14 tracks of inspired playing and vocals, with Jack at the helm of one of his tightest bands. Although this cd contains updated versions of Politician and I Feel Free, it rocks in a refreshing way. Lots of hand percussion, and of course, Jack's wicked bass lines.
Son Malcom also contributes. Good stuff, even if you're not a Cream fan.

Steven Halpern, Paul McCandless - Perfect Alignment

Peter Paul & Mary (Debut Album)

Dianne Reeves - A Little Moonlight

Judy Collins - Wildflowers

Lyle Lovett - My Baby Don’t Tolerate

George Winston - Linus & Lucy - The Music Of Vince Guaraldi - Solo Piano
River Dance

Don Henley - Inside Job

Jan Garbarek/The Hillard Ensemble - Officium
This one might not be for everyone but I played it for the guy that turned me on to Martin Denny and he asked for a copy on the spot.  One of the most unique CD’s I own. It was recorded in a cathedral and this CD captures that venue very nicely. Below is a link to Officium at Amazon and a copy of their review.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
What is this music? Fundamentally, it's an exploration of what happens when an improvisatory instrumental voice (saxophone) is placed into the world of early vocal music--which has elements of both improvisation and formal structure. In reality, it's an adventure in which the four male voices of the Hilliard Ensemble travel the 14th- and 15th-century territory of Morales and Dufay, visit the 12th century of Perotin, and roam even earlier ages of plainchant, accompanied by the always sensitive and tasteful--and often astonishing--saxophone improvisations of jazz master Jan Garbarek. Sometimes, these new melodies simply accompany; sometimes they transform the common--a routine minor chord, for instance--into a sublime, indescribable moment. The answer to the above question is easy--but it's different for each listener. --David Vernier

Lonewolf glad you like Martin Denny.

I thought I was the only one on AC old enough to know the music of Martin Denny.  Most of his LP's were recorded in the mid to late fifties.  I have one LP and one CD..The Best of Martin Denny.  His Quiet Village cut is the most famous and was close to the top of the charts.

Donnovan Frankenreiter (self titled)

Jack Johnson's latest 3 cd's.

Its summertime, needed some summer-music.  These are excellent disc's to toss in the CD player and relax on the boat to (which I have tested repeatedly).  Pretty good quality, bass seems a bit extended on the latest JackJ release, though maybe just me.

I was pretty disappointed in Jack Johnson's new one.  Brushfire Fairytales didn't do much for me, either.   I guess for me On And On was his high water mark- I just loved that CD.  Great summertime, kickin' back on the porch with a brew music.
