: Also is there a way to dim the main power led when in the red off mode ?

Yes with the newer firmware. Please read the release notes. I think it is part of the miscellanous menu. One of the nice things of the updates as the light was for me to strong, too.
Checked: Indeed along the miscellanous menu: LED STBY and LED FRONT : there the values of the LED's can be changed up to 1/64.

Hi,

There is a new USB Type - C connector that will be the next generation for 3.1 USB specification and I wonder if Bryston has considered them for future product developments?

I have been very pleased with my SP3.

I recently updated the firmware on the HDMI card and I can now pass 4k 60Hz from my HTPC to my Sony 500ES projector through the SP3!

Gents -

I purchased a second hand SP3 that arrived yesterday.  Serial Number 420.   I spent the better part of the day installing it and messing around.

I listened to some music and watched some of this season of The Walking Dead streamed from my oppo last night and I couldn't believe the clarity.  Dialog was so crisp and clear.  I actually jumped a couple of times when the zombies attacked!  I listened to War's Cisco Kid album from HD Tracks via the oppo's balanced output and had a huge smile on my face.  I still have some playing around to do which I plan to work on tonight. So far i'm amazed.  This unit blows away my old McIntosh MX136 which created more of a wall of sound.  This unit has such an open and wide soundstage with amazing clarity.

I work from home and the set up is about 20 feet from my desk. I keep wanting to quit working and go listen to more music.  Please keep me informed or on your mailing list for any firmware or hardware upgrades.  I plan on keeping this one for a long time!

My set up is:
Bryston SP3
Anthem A5
Oppo BDP-105
Aperion Grand Versus (fronts/center)
Aperion Versus (surround)
JL Audio F112
All better cables XLR connects and speaker wires.

I have a firmware update question.

I updated to the most recent firmware (u2015.04b) today. My SP3 is serial 706.

The notes say the following:
3) 4K HDMI - upgrade to latest HDMI firmware (VERSN ...222A) by executing
MISC -- UPDATE MENU: USR -- SELECT: PROGRAM HDMI.  This will add
4K/60Hz/4:2:0 format. To unlock USR submenu press ZONE,DVD,TAPE

I followed those, twice, and do not have a "Program HDMI" option. I only get a Program Keypad option?

Hi Folks,

We are getting close to offering a USB upgrade for the SP3 to allow for higher 192/24 bit resolution and looking at DSD capability as well.

Will keep you updated as to the mechanics of replacing the current USB input.

What a great idea for a holiday gift to SP3 owners.  Especially if it also includes DSD capabilities!  Really looking forward to it.  Thank you and Happy Holidays to everyone at Bryston. :xmas:

Would the DSD capability only be available from the USB input?  Or are there plans on accepting DSD from the HDMI inputs? (such as from an Oppo BDP-105)

James: I see that Bryston has signed on as one of the early adopters of the Roon Ready Hardware program.  It would be terrific if part of the SP3 upgrade allowed it to function as a Roon endpoint device, inwhich case the combined PCM192 and ideally 256DSD would make for a huge upgrade to the current SP3 from an audiophile perspective.  :green:

James:

I cannot see that this query was ever answered. Will the proposed DSD upgrade encompass the HDMI inputs and has there been any further progress on this upgrade?

Thanks.

Peter
