Randall Museum pre-amp class, last time
« on: 6 Oct 2008, 04:37 am »
The Randall Museum will host one more "Edwin" Preamp class.
The have been registering for the class all summer. This will be the last time Edwin teaches this class..
This is a great leg up for budding bay area diy'ers.
A single ended linestage utilizing some very linear 12 pins running in triode.
Depending on the current #'s it should be around 500$.
I sold a 3500$ pre for my project preamp, FWIW.

First thing you need to do is register as a family member at the Randall.
http://www.randallmuseum.org/Portals/0/Flyers/Fall%20Flyer%2008.pdf
last page on the document.
Then you get an ID#.
Then you call Jill in registration and tell her you want to register for the DIY Tube pre-amp class.
Kinda arduous but I must admit I sold a 3500$ preamp after I heard how this bad boy...

the class is not yet on the calendar
you will need to register as described in my above post to get on the "list"
It is a pain, but the last class had 1/2 a dozen late adds that couldn't get in.
I suggest early registration to guarantee a spot/slot.
It will probably run either late winter or spring.

The last call.
email reprint.

Hi All,

Please forward this message to anyone you know interested in building a very fine linestage.

I will be teaching the Randall Linestage class beginning January 09. This will likely be the last chance to build the Randall EF86 linestage. Sourcing the Russian capacitors and other specific components is too difficult so this is it.

Attached is a photo of the linestage.

Registration for the class is a 2 step affair. First you must open a “Family” account. Here is the link to the SF Park and Rec website with the “How To” info. http://www.parks.sfgov.org/site/recpark_page.asp?id=65312 .

Once you’ve opened the account and have your log-in info you can register for the class at this website: http://www.randallmuseum.org/ click on the navigation link on the left side “Register for Classes”.  Download the Randall’s flyer announcing the class (tube audio d. i. y.
Course #8852) http://www.randallmuseum.org/Portals/0/Flyers/Winter%20Flyer%2009.pdf . Please review the flyer for more details regarding cost, time / dates and more details regarding the registration process.

If you don’t have a Family account I recommend that you open one ASAP before the class is open for sign-up, there are only 11 spots and I suspect the class with max quickly. Online registration opens to Randall Museum Friends members on Saturday, December 6 and to the general public on Saturday, December 13.

Thanks

5 people registered so far.
There is still room for a few more.
Don't miss this chance to begin DIY w/ a tutor.
End result is a very nice linestage.
