Hi Glen,

Wow that is going to be an amazing system.  I think the Song3 Beats are the sweet spot in Jim's range of speakers.  At 88db they are also easy to drive as well.

Cheers Rod

Rocket,
I have thought about the Beats long and hard and I agree with you that they seem to be the sweet spot for acoustic/price ratio.
I'm just loving that extra bit of bass extension of the encores so I'll pay a bit more for that.

ERMD are you're 9.5's part of a HT system?  If so what surround speakers are you using?

Hey Glen,

I can only imagine the sound quality of the Song 3 Beats and also their bass capabilities.  I have HT3's which I think go down to 29hz and the bass seems to go much lower than the Song 3's which are rated to go 33hz.

Good luck.

Cheers Rod

My system is not completely installed since moving to new home when completed.  Currently bed layer of 7 and 2 front heights.
The surrounds are to be all MK/M&K speakers, largely because I've had most of them since 2003 and they still sound OK.
The side surrounds are 850s
The rear surrounds in bed layer and the side and rear height surrounds are tripoles.
Final will be 15 total speakers with 2 subs.  The Denon 8500 can connect all fo them, but only run 13 at a time.

WOW!!!!!!

What made you go with the Monoprice sub(s) and not something from Jim or JTR, Seaton or Funk?

I bought the sub before researching the mains enough to make decision on them.  I did have the M&K system, which is really good for HT, but not so much for music.
That said, I'm quite happy with the Monoprice sub; it is far better than the 12" M&K sub that I already had.
The addition of the Salks has make it perfect for me.  :)
