Raw Acoustics OB2X Build and Testing

Thumbnail for OB2X Cabinets and Crossovers - Raw Acoustics OB2X Cabinets assembled, one channel of crossovers assembled. Interior walls lined with 4 layers of roofing felt and glued down with Green Glue.
Thumbnail for Miswired OB2X tweeter crossover - Just an example of why we test crossovers before mounting them :) Red is measurement of how I initially miswired the tweeter crossover, green is fixed and what it should look like.
Thumbnail for OB2X Tweeter and Midrange Crossover - A shot of the OB2X Tweeter and Midrange crossover boards mounted inside the cabinet
Thumbnail for About to button-up the OB2X - A shot of one cabinet just before gluing on the rear wall. Open cell foam mounted on rear, right behind the bass driver. I'll also stuff the chamber with poly-fill, but less than specified.
Thumbnail for OB2X Cabinets Almost Ready! - Finished in a very nice birds-eye maple. Cabinet on the right is ready, after many many coats of gloss tung oil and lots of sanding inbetween coats. Cabinet on the right needs a couple more coats and some sanding.

Yellow = .11mH 14ga Foil Inductor and 7.5 ohm resistor
Blue = .15mH 14ga Foil Inductor and 10 ohm resistor
Pink = .15mH 14ga Foil Inductor and 7.5 ohm resistor
Green = Kit included .11mH small gauge Solen Inductor and 7.5 ohm resistor
Thumbnail for Revised OB2X Tweeter Crossover - Mmmm, foil
Thumbnail for Revised OB2X Tweeter Crossovers - The revised OB2X tweeter network boards, I used foils inductors
Thumbnail for OB2X Bass Response - A quick effort to show the OB2X lower woofer and port response, combined with a gated full-range response curve. These measurements shouldn't be taken with much confidence, this is simply to roughly show what's going on.
Thumbnail for OB2X Final Frequency Response, both channels - Both channels measured at same distance and level, gated and 1/3 octave smoothed.
