SongTower and bass managment settings?
« on: 21 Oct 2008, 01:00 am »
Are folks configuring their SongTower's as small or large speakers? What crossover frequency are you using? I'm having a hard time getting my STs to blend with my sub (Hsu VTF-2).

Thanks for any info.

Large.

I am using 60Hz as the crossover point to dual homemade subs.

When I was playing with the SongTowers,  I used my preamp to cut off the speakers low bass response and cross it to the sub.  The Tact preamp adjusted the phase and delay of the sub.   I also set them up at Raj's house and set them as small with his receiver.   He is happy with it.

For movies - Small crossed over at 60Hz
For music - Large run full range.

Thanks Nuance. Is your sub active when you run your mains as large for music?

It can be, but I don't usually turn the "double bass" feature on unless the recording is grossly lacking in bass.  In other words, I can run the speakers full range and use the subwoofer at the same time, but I don't usually do this.
