I know people have been asking for the CS2's in something other than black...how about this from Dan Modwright's room?

Here you go George.............by the way.................. :birthday: :birthday:    Enjoy!!!

Sorry, I think they are pretty nasty in that color.  I think they look great in all black.  Perhaps some side woods trim pieces would be a nice finishing touch.

They look 10x better in person than in those pictures, plus its definitely something different for those who want something other than just all black.  :thumb:

Yes I was there and love the sound of Emerald Physics CS2 speakers when Dan used the analog system (beautiful blue TT).  :thumb:The tube modification of Transporter was sounding too warm for my ears (it is the character of 6N1P tubes).

The amp was the new multichannel from Wyred4sound, an ICE powered unit.

Any comments on how the Wyred4sound amp sounded with the CS2's?

What's the crossover frequency and slope?

Wow, seems like Dan's set up really has the CS2 toed in...it's toed in so much that the cross is like a foot infront of the listener...
Is that recommended for this???

George, how far is your's toed in?

Mine are toe'd in similarly.  Crossing right in front of the listening position, about 7' out.

This was the middle sounding of the 3 set-ups I heard. The source was the Transporter, so it was hard to use the same test CD I had on it, so maybe was just as good as the VAS, VSA (?) room, but they had a different xover and source again.
The amp sounded great to me, but I have ICE amps for my system anyway.
Overall, I am concerned they will be somewhat bright/ shouty/ grainy to the point that they won't work, but I suppose adjustments to a crossover can solve some of that. The first room I heard them in scared me right out, couldn't live with that in my space, but the other 2 brought me back in, but still concerned. :|

I could not attend so I am wondering if all you guys that were at this show could comment on the sound of the 3 different setups including the associated equipment?  I am looking to get the CS2's and wonder about amplification as well.  I have not listened to the Wyred 4 Sound amps but I am most definitely interested in a class D solid state.  No tubes for me or any high heat class A.  UNLESS- there is just no way to get great sound out using the class D equipment.

I have even heard some people speak highly of the Panasonic XR-700 (discontinued) and using it as a "digital" amp all the way through bypassing any "conversion" to analog.  I will confess to not be a highly technical guy so I do not really even understand this concept.  You should probably know that I have no interest in vinyl and would like to try and use a server type front end through a wireless slim devices Duet.

Thanks,

James

Doesn't this arrangement reduce/limit lateral expansion of the sound stage?  Have you experimented with other configurations?  Personally I have found this arrangement works well with enclosed designs, but not so well with dipoles.

Yes, I tried many combinations, though I found this one to be best in my situation.  Maybe it has something to do with the waveguide approach, I dunno, but it works.  I've had no problems with reduced sound stage at all with this setup.
